Navajo Etchware is Native American pottery is made from a slurry which is poured into a mold. After it has dried, it is painted and then either etched or carved with Navajo and Native American designs and patterns. In the case of Horse Hair Pottery real horse hair is applied to the pot which is held in place by a sticky lacquer. The pottery is fired in a commercial kiln.
